The Butte College football team traveled to San Francisco to take on the City College of San Francisco City Rams on September 21, 2024. The game took place at George Rush Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM. The Butte Roadrunners came into the game with a perfect 3-0 record, while the San Francisco Rams were still searching for their first win of the season at 0-3.
The game started off with a bang as Butte struck first with a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Marcus Beamon to Noah Doratt. However, the extra point attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 6-0 in favor of Butte. San Francisco quickly responded with a 92-yard fumble recovery touchdown by Kahanu Kalahiki, giving them a 7-6 lead.
Butte regained the lead in the second quarter with a 69-yard touchdown pass from Beamon to Brandon Smith, followed by a 4-yard touchdown run by Beamon himself. The Roadrunners went into halftime with a comfortable 20-7 lead.
In the second half, Butte continued to dominate with a 6-yard touchdown run by Takeshi Faupula and a 48-yard field goal by Danny Alvarez. San Francisco managed to score one more touchdown on a 20-yard run by Richard Washington, but it was not enough to overcome Butte's lead. The Roadrunners secured the victory with a final score of 30-14.
Statistically, Butte outperformed San Francisco in total offense, passing yards, rushing yards, and time of possession. Butte's defense also had a strong showing, recording five sacks and forcing two turnovers. Quarterback Marcus Beamon had a solid game, completing 10 of 15 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
Butte next will plauyModesto who is also undefeated in Oroville, while the CCSF Rams will also take on team with the same mascot, Fresno City College who come into the game with a 3-0 record.
